Description
California continues to have the highest number of children entering the foster care system each year. In 2018, 2.4 out of every 1,000 children ages 0-17 in California entered foster care for the first time. These young people face increased risks for emotional, physical, behavioral, academic, and employment challenges. As of 2022, over 2,900 children in Fresno and Madera counties are currently in foster care.
We are excited to partner with Love Much Love Well, an organization dedicated to supporting foster and adoptive families with love, empathy, and practical assistance. This season, we have a special opportunity to serve these children by providing Welcome Kits.
What is a Welcome Kit?
Welcome Kits are designed to help children who are newly placed in foster homes. Often, they arrive with very few belongings, and these kits can provide essential items to help them feel more comfortable during this transition.
How You Can Help
You can make a difference by signing up to provide one or more Welcome Kits. An email will be sent to you with details on the supplies needed, instructions on how to pack the kits, and suggestions for how you can pray for the children and foster families. Be sure to check your SPAM folder if you don’t see the email, as it sometimes gets misplaced there.
