Description
Red Cross is excited to announce that we will be back out in the community for our Sound the Alarm event and we’re looking for your help to save lives! Since Sound the Alarm started, the American Red Cross has installed more than 2.2 million free smoke alarms and prepared more than 2.5 million people for home fires. Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. The Red Cross has saved 836 lives since the Home Fire Campaign began in 2014, including 9 in Central California (6 in Bakersfield, 3 in Fresno).
Together, we’ll help families in at-risk communities across Central California with home fire safety by installing free smoke alarms to homes that need them. We will also provide education on the importance of fire safety and assist in the creation of an escape plan in the event of a fire so that all members of the home are able to escape safely.
Grab your family or friends and join us for a fun way to prepare your community against home fires. We’ll provide all the training and materials you’ll need on the day of the event. Please note that volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to participate and will be partnered with an adult if under the age of 18.
