Description

Fresno Madera Youth for Christ Parent Life is looking for mature Christian volunteers to mentor teen parents and pregnant teens. Most of our teens are considered at-risk youth, many are in the foster care system, or have recently aged out of foster care/group homes. This is an ongoing commitment to mentor these young parents, building a relationship over time. The time commitment weekly is minimal. We meet for a couple of hours as a small (Covid safety procedures strictly enforced) group, outside (for now). Additionally, mentors are encouraged to reach out to their mentees at least once a week. You are not expected to contribute financially or babysit. Just come on the day of our meeting, spend time with the youth, get to know them, and be willing to be paired up so that you can offer the support of a trusted mentor. Meetings are currently on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm and are meant to be fun and also helpful. This time of their lives is very difficult emotionally, physically and spiritually and they need the guidance of an authentic Christ-sharing relationship with an adult who sees them, knows them and has no agenda other than to love and support them through it. The youth age out of our program at age 20.

You can apply to volunteer on the Fresno Madera Youth For Christ website www.yfcnow.org and we will run a background check. Please email Sherri Udall if you are interested in joining this exciting team. sherri@yfcnow.org
