Description
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California is a mentoring service for children who are facing adversity in our community. Mentoring can be as simple as taking a child to the park for a few hours, or sharing a pizza and good conversation. These things don’t take much time, but they create a lasting effect in those children who face poverty, discrimination or indifference on a daily basis.
Our adult volunteers are matched with children between the ages of 6-14. We ask that our volunteers make a minimum of a 12 month commitment to the program and they meet about 2-4 times a month with the child. We interview and thoroughly screen all the volunteers to ensure this is the right fit for them and ask them about their interests when matching a child. All the outings are done on their own time and outside of the home.
