Working with Youth

The WRAP Mentorship Program is a partnership between three organizations: City Without Orphans, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and EMQ Families First, that come together to bring volunteers from the community to youth in the Foster Care System. These volunteers serve as mentors for the youth to help provide a stable connection with someone outside of their placement homes. These youth are at some of the highest risk in their placements and have professional supports, but lack community based connections, so that's where YOU come in. As a mentor you will meet with the youth a few times a month and be a connection/support person for them as someone outside of the home. These outings can be something simple like going to the park or going for some ice cream!
Mentor must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to commit to the full 18 month program
Must be able to meet with the youth for 6 hours a month (the hours are flexible, they will be worked out between you, the care provider and the youth)
- As a mentor you have the right to set mentee criteria preferences, but there are no guarantees
Men can only mentor boys, Women can mentor both, but many of the boys are fatherless and need a male role model in their life.
